You can do this by using your brain, the ‘boss’ of your body. The brain is made up of abut 100 billion neurons. This happens in three ways. Fist, 1) your skull is very hard and string. Second 2) your brain floats in a fluid. The largest part is called the cerebrum. It looks like the wrinkled halves of a walnut, dose't it? Well, this is the part that allows you to think. It lets you play computer games, remember phone number, solve problems and imagine stories. It makes the parts of your body work together well and helps you keep your balance. You need it when you ride your bike and think about other things at the same time. Another small but important part of the brain is the brain stem. It controls actions that happen without you thinking, such as breathing. Wouldn't it be difficult to remind your heart to pump blood or your stomach to digest food? |
